i had to look through the keyhole
then i took a bullet to the eye
the girl i loved at the window
spread her arms and decided to fly

i didn’t visualise the touchdown
didn’t think once to ask why
i guess i never understood love
or what it really means to die

when i was born no one ever told me living was to be this foul
when i was caught all i needed was to know you got back home somehow
when i was young someone should have showed me how to shut my stupid mouth
when i was yours felt like we could burn the world over and feel no fire
